Ever go through one of those periods where there's just 'stuff' going on in life, but there's nothing really to be said about it so you say nothing and one day you realize it's be a while since you said anything? Me, too.

So how is everyone?

A week or so ago you may recall a news item about a Texas State Representative who suggested that Asian-Americans should change their names because they're too hard to pronounce and came under some major outrage and mockery for this.

The irony, it burns.

I swear I get the best ones of these!

Your challenge is to write crossover fanfiction combining Left Behind and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The story should use martial arts as a plot device!

The last time I did this it was Lord of the Rings and Muppet Babies, living on a farm. And all I could think of was "Farmer Giles of Ham".

Okay, let's be honest. I have the entire Disney collection which includes everything listed here (yes, I mean Song of the South), the ones not listed here, the animated shorts and the combination animation/live action ones. Let's just assume I have seen and liked them. *self-confessed Disney geek which does not mean that one agrees with everything the company has done*

Why your publisher, which is you, should seek a better Internet Lawyer than the current legal counsel, which is you:

As for her publisher, AV Paranormal, their official statement in regards to accusations of copyright infringement is as follows:

"When fictional characters become such an intricate part of the popular psyche, as is the case with the Twilight Saga, legal boundaries become blurred, and copyright laws become increasingly difficult to define. This is especially the case when actual cities like Forks and Volterra are used as the novel's settings. Such settings are not copyrightable, as they are considered public domain. Similarly, the Quileute Nation is also not copyrightable, and neither are vampire or werewolf legends. Copyright laws protect writers from unauthorized reproductions of their work, but such reproductions only include verbatim copying. Characters are only copyrightable if their creator draws them or hires an artist to draw them. Stephenie Meyer herself borrowed a great deal from previous works dealing with these mythologies."

Since I haven't noticed this anywhere on my f'list, and since it's happening tomorrow:

LJ News on the server move

"The long-awaited server move takes place this Tuesday, November 18, at 8:00 a.m. PST. We're moving the site from servers based in San Francisco to the servers in our new data center in Montana. A massive data move like this takes a lot of heavy lifting, and to haul all that data from San Francisco to Montana, we have to take the site down, starting at 8:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday morning. We don't think the move will take more than four hours, but there's always the possibility that it could take longer (the best laid plans and all).

What Does This Mean for You?

During the downtime, nothing on LJ will be available—no posting, no Friends page, no LJ mail, nada. When we bring the site back up, we're going to ease into it rather than open up a floodgate of traffic. Posting might not be immediately available or the site could be slow to load for a while.

BUFFYBOT: Say, look at you. You look just like me! We're very pretty.

WILLOW: Two of them!

XANDER: Hey, I know this! They're both Buffy!

BUFFY: (annoyed at him) No, *she*'s a robot. She acts just like that girlfriend-bot that Warren guy made. You guys couldn't tell me apart from a robot?

List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.

1) I like coconut.

2) I 'consume' far more virtual chocolate than I do actual chocolate. Though I must admit I'm much better at taking my daily vitamins now that they make them in chocolate.

3) Despite the inconveniences I find I really do like living in small towns/rural areas more than I do living in big cities.

4) I love planning things out. I hate discovering that my physical abilities just don't match up with my imagination.

5) I changed jobs entirely in my late 30s, going all the way back to an entry level position in the new field.

6) I like exploring new places.

7) I enjoy taking photographs. I don't think I'm an amazing photographer, and I will rarely be in the photos I take. My main reason is to share what I'm seeing with others who are not there to see it. *reminds self about 'photo of the day'*

I was going to say I don't talk about myself much in 'public' but then I figured you already knew that.

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it.
