Yep, the heat wave is slowly making its way through the country, but according to the map, it's letting up on the West Coast. So there is relief in sight. For us, it is supposed to come with a thunderstorm in tow tonight or tomorrow. Then dip back to the 80's. Currently 107, which is the equivalent of 110 in Phoenix with humidity that sucks the air out of your body and makes you want to just collasp onto the pavement with your mouth open. Beginning to understand why hot temperatures in certain areas of the planet are worse than others.
107 in KC was bad, but at least we weren't worried about power outtages and 1000 of deaths. In NYC, you have more people, more cars, and an overly taxed power grid. So it is worse apparently.
Am hoping the city makes it another day. Heard that there were close to 5,000 homes and businesses without power last night. And McDonalds decided to close to save power. They also switched the lights off for a good percentage of Times Square as well as WallStreet, to conserve power.
