Happy Festivus!

You know it wasn't all that long ago where my tree was pretty close to resembling the one on the left of your layout. I was greatly influenced by the department store trees.

I'd still do my trees like this if I can ever figure out how to kitty-proof them. Mainly because I've been collecting individual ornaments nearly all my life and I like to use them. But I'm not sure "kitty + shiny = good thing"! Hee.

ETA: Have you ever seen the Christopher Radko Christmas episode of Designer's Challenge? I want him to come do my house!

I first saw it (A Holiday to Remember (http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_dsc/episode/0,,HGTV_3833_27695,00.html)) last year, but it was on this past week during the day.

Looks like it'll be airing again on the 15th.

We put our 1 foot tall in a pot non-decorated as of yet tree on the dinning room table to keep it away from Alexandra and the ferrets. I'm not sure that would work for cats though since they are bigger and can jump much further (than both Alexandra and the ferrets)! It does have presents and candy (from Sinterklaas, Dec 5) under it already. See, we know the true reason to have a tree!

Alas, Dr. Horrible is not under our tree since only the soundtrack is on amazon.uk. :( I guess we won't be having a Horrible Christmas. :(

And in the chocolate department, instant hot chocolate does not exist here, so I have to make it from scratch, with real Dutch-processed cocoa (but not Dutch grown). And marshmellows, those do exist; why, I don't know. But they're the large kind you have to cut in little pieces first.

I remember 'real' hot chocolate! And the best 'instant' cocoas still make you use milk instead of water. (When I want decadence, I melt a Hershey's kiss into the cup, too -- yummmm!)

Well, that's no fair. Especially since it's being produced as a DVD-R so there's no region issues.

I'm amused that amazon.com is 'bundling' it with The Dark Night and Wall-E. And telling me that people who viewed this product also viewed "Professional Comfort-Fit ANSI-Certified Welding & Torch Safety Goggles - Flip-Up Style" and that after viewing that item 24% of customers then buy Dr. Horrible. ROFL! (Of course, now I want the goggles).

While the kitties have now learned that they are too big (I describe the two of them charging around chasing each other as 'elephants galumphing') I'm not sure they'd be immune to the need to check out the Oooh! Shiny! aspect of the tree. Or in particular, that they'd be able to resist finding ways to lie under it, in which case I need to devise a Very Stable Tree Stand.

We do have one tree that has lights only on the ledge over the front door. I figure if they manage to jump 12 feet up, then they deserve to play with it. I'm also very tempted to see if I can figure out a way to hang an upside down ceiling tree. Hee!

(I can't believe Alexandra is 1!!)

Just a quick one before Alexandra starts grabbing the mouse (she's playing wiht the phone now. we got her one, but of course she prefers ours. I like hers better since it plays songs and does other nifty things!). You don't know Alexandra is 1 because we never sent the email 'Alexandra is 1, go look at photo's of her party on the web page!' because we haven't finsihed the web page yet. :( We all had flu for the week leading up to her bday, well, first Alexandra got the baby measels and we were exhausted from that so then we got the flu, yes, 14 people and I was still so sick I could barely talk....but everyone had a good time except Alexandra who needed 2 or 3 naps because crowds exhaust her. And she opened half her presents the next day. But we have REALLY cute pics of her in her sand box/swimming pool! :) ANd now we've redone our living room completely and added our small tree so we'll have to do pics of that! I'll post later more about Christmas...what fun! :)
